Matt Holt, a 2005 graduate of Polk County High and a 2009 graduate of North Carolina State University(NCSU), was featured in the Winter 2009 issue of NC State for his role in co-creating, funding and staffing New Sense Studios, an after-school program that provides a creative outlet for at-risk teens in Raleigh. Holt graduated form NCSU in December of 2009 with a degree in Landscape Architecture. As a student at Polk County High School, Holt was active in the school's agriculture program and, for his Senior Project, he created a diagram of the landscaping at the high school and installed a mail box outside of Principal Greene's office that contains copies for folks to pick up to learn about the design. Attention Polk County Schools' parents/guardians and students: The U.S. Department of Education has issued new requirements about race and ethnicity identification of students in public schools for all states. The new categories used to report ethnicity and race were developed by the federal government to give a better snapshot of the ethnic and racial diversity of our nation.

Polk County Schools normally only asks for race and ethnicity information upon enrollment, but this school year all students will have an opportunity to update their information. This information will continue to be used by the federal government in the same manner as it was in the past. The only change will be from the old categories to the new categories for race and ethnicity. To access the update form- CLICK HERE

Dear Polk County School Parents! We are pleased to introduce a brand new poster fundraiser program this year from an organization called FundYourGroup. It's fun and affordable and could earn a lot of money for PCHS Athletics!

Here's how it works. Parents, students, family, friends and supporters of PCHS Athletics go to www.fundyourgroup.com where they can upload their own digital picture, enter our assigned group code (OUR GROUP CODE IS:  POHS1-BS001. *This part is VERY important!  Don't forget to enter our group code or we won't get credit for the sale!) and select the size poster they would like to purchase. The photo is enlarged to the size selected and in 7 to 10 business days, the high quality poster is delivered right to their doorstep. It's as simple as that!
